Photo Credit: BET+ The Zatima Season 4 Part 2 release date is highly anticipated following the conclusion of Part 1. The first part premiered on September 11, 2025, and ran until October 9, 2025. Created by Tyler Perry, this comedy-drama follows the relationship between Zac and Fatima. The pair deeply loves each other and takes steps to deepen their bond. However, new relationships and past deeds test their efforts. So, what is the release date of Zatima Season 4 Part 2? Here’s what we have gathered on the subject. What is the Zatima Season 4 Part 2 release date estimate? Zatima Season 4 Part 2’s release date will likely fall during the December 2025 to early 2026 timeframe. This is based on the pattern followed by the previous seasons. Since Season 2, Zatima has followed a release pattern in which the episodes were split into two parts. Season 2 Part 1 premiered on March 16, 2023, and ran until April 13, followed by Season 2 Part 2, which ran from August 24, 2023, to September 28, 2023. Season 3 Part 1 launched on October 3, 2024, running until October 31, followed by Season 3 Part 2, which released from December 26, 2024, to January 23, 2025. Thus, if Season 4 Part 2 follows a similar pattern, its anticipated December 2025 to early 2026 release timeframe becomes even more likely. Zatima Season 4 Part 2 news and updates Recently, the two main leads of Zatima, Crystal Hayslett and Devale Ellis, gave an interview with Revolt. In it, the pair discussed the show and their respective careers. During the discussion, Hayslett explained why fans loved Zatima so much and why they resonated with it compared to other shows exploring modern relationships. “I think honestly, it’s us living out our flaws and faults in front of everyone,” Hayslett shared. “We’re not giving you the perfect fairytale love story, you know? And I fell victim to that by watching TV.” She continued, “And I fell victim to that by watching TV. I’m like, ‘I want that kind of love.’ That ain’t real. You know? So, I think that we are actually showing what it looks like to grow as couples, grow individually, and then also start to communicate and be able to build a family on a solid foundation.” The Zatima Season 4 Part 2 expected cast includes Hayslett, Ellis, Nzinga Imani, Jasmin Brown, and Remington Hoffman. The synopsis for Zatima is as follows: “Zac and Fatima take a huge step to strengthen their bond, but new friends and past actions interfere with their blossoming relationship.” The post Zatima Season 4 Part 2 Release Date Estimate, News & Updates appeared first on ComingSoon.net - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More. Photo Credit: NBC The trailer for Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 3 finally confirmed Owen Manning’s fate after the previous episode left things hanging. The episode took a sharp turn in the second half after Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) returned for an emotional reunion with the other doctors. The trailer revealed Owen’s fate, but there are still questions remaining about this. Does Owen die, and is Frankie DeMaio leaving Chicago Med? No, Owen does not die in Chicago Med Season 11, at least not yet. The trailer for the upcoming episode confirmed that Owen is alive and fighting for his life, so it is clear that the show is not killing him off immediately. But he is not out of danger either. In the previous episode, Owen came with Will to Chicago to spend some quality time. But things took a turn for the worse when a teenager named Jasper, who was later revealed to be a drug mule with intestinal blockage due to cocaine baggies, was brought in. Soon, a female drug runner invaded Jasper’s operating room, and though the doctors gave away the cocaine baggies, a gunshot went off that put Owen’s life at risk. Now, the trailer has confirmed that Owen is still alive, and Will was the one who sought help urgently for his adoptive son. So, while Owen is alive, he is not out of danger. Perhaps the faculty could come together to save Owen, which would mark a momentous occasion on the show. As for Frankie DeMaio’s exit, there have been no reports that hint at the possibility of this anytime soon. Moreover, Owen’s death at this juncture of the story would be too devastating a twist. So, Chicago Med will not kill off Owen right away. But the show could use this storyline to build something better. Chicago Med Season 11 Episode 3 will premiere on October 15, 2025. If it’s great, then yeah, if it makes sense.” He added, “I don’t know if it makes sense.” The discussion follows Warner Bros.’ announcement in April 2024 that writer and director Drew Goddard will take over the franchise, with The Matrix 5 officially in development. (via Variety) During the NYCC panel hosted by Josh Horowitz, Fishburne and co-star Joe Pantoliano looked back on the impact of the original trilogy. Fishburne said, “There’s no movie that comes after ‘The Matrix’ that’s a sci-fi action or fantasy movie that’s not been influenced by it. It’s everywhere. It’s so pervasive you almost forget where it came from at this point.” He even added that that without The Matrix, even major franchises like the MCU wouldn’t “look the same.” The actor, who first brought Morpheus to life in the 1999 sci-fi classic, also reflected on his absence from The Matrix Resurrections, released in 2021. Fishburne revealed that he had reached out to Lana Wachowski in hopes of reprising the role. He said, “I reached out. It just didn’t pan out. However, the episode “Yes, And…” revealed a fresh storyline in Officer Kaya Blanke’s (Carra Patterson) life. Is Carra Patterson exiting Elsbeth for good? The season 3 premiere of Elsbeth, titled “Yes, And…,” emerged with a new storyline. The latest tweaks to the plot lead to the promotion of Patterson’s character, Officer Kaya Blanke, from an NYPD officer to an undercover agent in a special D.C. task force. The premiere further revealed that Officer Blanke’s training starts right away, explaining Patterson’s absence in the show as a series regular. As per Deadline, Patterson resigned from her regular role in May 2025. The actress will return in Season 3 as a guest star. A scene between Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) and Cameron Clayden (Sullivan Jones) teased Patterson’s guest appearance in Elsbeth Season 3. The scene starts with Elsbeth asking Cameron about her friend’s whereabouts. Cameron first replies by saying that she isn’t supposed to reveal anything. She later adds that her friend has completed her training and begun her first undercover assignment. Photo Credit: ABC General Hospital fans are not okay with Joss’ arc, in which she is pulled into covert operations with the WSB. This all started when her boyfriend, Dex Heller, was murdered. It inspired Joss to have her share of revenge, but now, she falls deeper into the storyline. She ended up killing a man in self-defense and was then helped by Agent Jack Brennan, who wants her to join WSB for good. This means that she is not exploring her college dramas and relationships, but rather being seen in a more tense arc dealing with national security. General Hospital fans say Eden McCoy’s Josslyn Jacks “was never convincing” as an agent General Hospital fans have objected to Joss’ transition from pre-med student to secret agent. The biggest concern is that it seems highly unlikely. Viewers feel that the WSB storyline differs significantly from the one they grew up watching. She had ambitions for her career and relationships, which are now sidelined to fit Joss into a darker, action-heavy story. The former resonates with most soap opera beats of young adult characters. Another facet of this criticism of Joss’ WSB storyline is how she will now put everyone in danger around her. Given that she will enter into life-threatening situations, it will automatically put her family and friends at immediate risk. This shift from college drama and relationships to some undercover agent-based work is why fans are asking the writers to end the storyline. They want it scaled back or ended completely. A fan wrote on Facebook, “So over this stupid Joss is a WSB agent storyline. She doesn’t sell it as an agent. Please GH end it now.” Others agreed with the notion and replied, “I agree I liked it when she was going to college to be a doctor! This story of her becoming a WSB agent is just stupid like most things going on GH now.” Another added, “She’s about as good a WSB agent as I am. This whole WSB storyline needs to go out the window. It’s sooo boring!” The post General Hospital Fans Want Joss’ WSB Agent Storyline to End appeared first on ComingSoon.net - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More. View the full article

Photo Credit: Craig Barritt | Getty Images for ReedPop George R.R. Martin, author of the A Song of Ice and Fire book series and Game of Thrones‘ EP, has provided another explanation behind the delay of the next book, titled The Winds of Winter. In a recent discussion, Martin opened up about what is keeping him from penning the next entry in his cult classic franchise, stating that he likes to work on other things as well. George R.R. Martin says he ‘always had trouble with deadlines’ During George R.R. Martin’s recent appearance at the New York Comic Con, fellow novelist Joe Hill jokingly alluded to his stalled Winds of Winter novel by instead asking him a question about the NFL side, the New York Giants. Undeterred, Martin addressed the topic by simply saying that he has always faced issues meeting deadlines. (via Entertainment Weekly) “I know there’s all this controversy about Winds of Winter and how late it is, but I’ve always had trouble with deadlines,” the veteran author remarked before adding, “And I don’t feel happy breaching contracts or missing a deadline or anything like that.” Martin then reiterated his love for the source material for Game of Thrones, noting, “Yes, I do love Winds of Winter. I’m still interested in it, I’m still working on it.” Nevertheless, the Elden Ring co-writer highlighted that he harbors equal passion for his other projects, including Wild Cards and AMC drama Dark Winds, stating, “But honestly, I love these other things, too.” Notably, George R.R. Martin has published five books in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, with the latest one, titled A Dance with Dragons, coming out in 2011. Since then, there have been little to no updates regarding the final two entries, with Martin instead turning his attention towards the television adaptations of his written works. On the Game of Thrones front, the 77-year-old writer is executive producing the House of the Dragon series, which has spawned two seasons so far. Martin is also executive producing and co-creating another GoT spin-off, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is currently on track to premiere on HBO in January 2026. As confirmed by the new trailer, the long-anticipated Wonder Man series has officially shifted its premiere to January 2026, kicking off a year of several high-profile MCU releases. These include both returning fan favorites and long-anticipated debuts. Wonder Man and other MCU movies and shows releasing in 2026 Marvel Studios has officially delayed the release of Wonder Man, its latest live-action Disney+ series. The studio has shifted the series’ premiere from December 2025 to January 2026. According to Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s Head of TV and Animation, the move was made to avoid clashing with the holiday viewing rush. “We don’t want it to get swallowed up by people watching Home Alone and Die Hard and Elf,” he told Entertainment Weekly. First announced in 2022, Wonder Man stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, a struggling actor and heir to a failing tech company, and Ben Kingsley, reprising his MCU role as Trevor Slattery. Winderbaum described the show as one of his “favorite” Marvel projects to date. He said, “And it’s a story about not just Hollywood, I would say it’s a story about acting and the journey of an actor in Hollywood, of having to balance being an artist with making money and very grounded ideas that anyone who came up in Hollywood or in the arts in general can relate to.” Wonder Man’s delay has pushed it to a January 27, 2026, release, making Marvel’s 2026 schedule even more packed. Here’s a look at Marvel’s current 2026 release lineup: Wonder Man – January 27, 2026 Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 – March 2026 The Punisher Special – Early-mid 2026 X-Men ’97 Season 2 – Summer 2026 Spider-Man: Brand New Day (from Sony) – July 31, 2026 Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Season 2 – Fall 2026 VisionQuest – Sometime in mid-late 2026 Avengers: Doomsday – December 18, 2026 Originally reported by Disheeta Maheshwari on SuperHeroHype. Currently, he is not eligible for bail, with his court date set for Wednesday, October 15, 2025. As per TMZ, his rep stated that the warrant from a Michigan case stems from a missed court appearance. Photo Credit: Mark Schafer/CBS via Getty Images The Elsbeth Season 3 premiere discloses the role that Amy Sedaris is playing. In August 2025, it was announced that Sedaris, alongside Andy Richter and Lindsay Mendez, had been tapped for Season 3. The latest season focuses on the demise of the fictional late-night host, played by Stephen Colbert. Here are all the details on her role. Which character does Amy Sedaris play in Elsbeth Season 3? Amy Sedaris plays Laurel Hammond-Muntz in Elsbeth Season 3. She is the devoted head writer and executive producer of the fictional show “Way Late.” In conversation with Deadline, showrunner Jonathan Tolins revealed what it was like working with the three new additions to the cast. He said, ” It was also so wonderful to have three people with a long history together, just like the characters they play. I actually saw Amy and Andy in a play, “Incident at Cobbler’s Knob,” as part of the Lincoln Center Festival back in 1997.” Appreciating Colbert’s and Sedaris’ other works, he added, “And, of course, I’m a huge fan of Strangers with Candy, the series Amy and Stephen co-wrote and starred in, and on which Andy also appeared. That connection between the three of them is really palpable in the episode.” In the show, Sedaris’ Laurel can’t tolerate Scotty’s behavior, given his different priorities and the way he mocks her husband. Scotty also hesitates to grant Mickey time off to prioritize his health. Despite Scotty’s unacceptable behavior, Mickey visits him to request leave once again, only to find him dead in the office. It is revealed that Scotty died when his tie got caught in the power shredder. This demise puts Laurel into a challenging situation, given that she put his tie in the machine, which choked him. This is because she hated him for his nature and for not being empathetic enough towards her husband’s health condition. Tolins revealed further what made these scenes between Colbert and Sedaris special. He explained, “Also, the fact that Stephen and Amy have known each other for so long added something special to their scenes together. These people know each other deeply. I think it makes for one of our most complicated and interesting murders on the show.” The post Elsbeth Season 3 Premiere Reveals Amy Sedaris’ Character in Hit TV Show appeared first on ComingSoon.net - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More. Photo Credit: Walt Disney Tron: Ares just hit theaters, and fans are already asking, “When can I stream it at home?” Disney hasn’t dropped the official digital or streaming dates yet, but if we look at how they usually roll out their releases and what experts are predicting, we can make some pretty good guesses. When will Tron: Ares get its digital release date? Disney hasn’t officially said anything yet, but media watchers think Tron: Ares will probably hit digital (VOD, purchase, and rental) sometime between December 9 and 16, 2025. This guess comes from Disney’s usual 60–67 day window after a movie is released in theatres, similar to what we saw with Lilo & Stitch and Thunderbolts. If Tron: Ares doesn’t do great at the box office, some think Disney might push the digital release up a bit, maybe to late November, but that’s more of a “could happen” scenario. When will Tron: Ares begin streaming on Disney+? For Disney+ streaming, Tron: Ares is expected to arrive around mid-January 2026, although some estimates suggest it may be delayed into February. This follows Disney’s usual gap of about 100 days between the digital release and the Disney+ debut. If you want to catch it on Disney+, you’ll need a subscription. Plans start at $10.99/month for the basic option with ads, but please note that the price will increase to $12.99/month on October 21, 2025. While you’re waiting, you can stream the first two Tron movies, Tron and Tron: Legacy, on Disney+. Tron: Ares is the latest movie in the Tron franchise, starring Jared Leto and legendary Jeff Bridges reprising his role as Kevin Flynn. The film also introduces fresh faces like Greta Lee, Evan Peters, and more. When it hit theaters, it topped the box office with $33.5 million domestically in its opening weekend. Still, that was a bit below expectations, given the film’s reported $180 million production budget. Overseas, it’s pulled in another $27 million, bringing the worldwide total to $60.5 million. Photo Credit: Marvel Studios Spider-Man: Brand New Day is said to directly connect to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The speculation began after recent comments from Brad Winderbaum hinted at overlapping storylines and coordinated production efforts. The development comes as both projects prepare major releases that expand Marvel’s street-level narrative in New York City. Spider-Man: Brand New Day confirmed to connect with Daredevil: Born Again Marvel TV boss Brad Winderbaum talked about the connection between the two projects during an interview with Entertainment Weekly at New York Comic Con, and said, “We are communicating a lot with the team on Spider-Man: Brand New Day to make sure that there’s coherence there.” He added, “We don’t want to spoil anything, but it very much exists in the same world and it is important.” Winderbaum explained that while both projects share continuity, they will retain distinct tones. “Just [like] the Daredevil comic books and the Punisher comic books depicted a certain tone and an idea of New York in a different way than Spider-Man’s, they both exist in the same universe,” he said, adding, “Everything lines up and the impacts are felt, but we’re able to tell different stories.” The MCU first brought the two heroes together in Spider-Man: No Way Home. After Peter Parker’s (Tom Holland) identity was exposed, he sought legal help from Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). The cameo officially brought Daredevil into the main MCU timeline. Daredevil: Born Again launched on Disney+ in March 2025 and continues the Netflix storyline. Matt Murdock battles Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who becomes mayor of New York and tightens his grip on the city. In the finale, Fisk seizes full control and bans vigilantism. Season 2 has wrapped filming and brings back Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, setting up his upcoming standalone Punisher special. However, Phillips did not appear as Audrey, but instead played the role of Tamara Jacobs, the 36-year-old teacher whose storyline involves a controversial relationship with her 15-year-old student, Pacey Witter. During their scene together, Jackson and Phillips recreate a kissing scene between Tamara and Pacey, surprising the crowd in attendance. After the performance, in an interview with PEOPLE, Phillips opened up about the kiss. Speaking about planning it with Jackson, she shared, “We had run through the whole thing the day before. And so we were just doing sound cues and lighting cues onstage the day of. That’s all we had time to do.” Further, she revealed, “That was when Josh and I sat down, and I looked at him and I was like, ‘I mean, we could really kiss.’ “ She then mentioned how Jackson approved of the idea, saying, “I’m in. I think we got to give the people what they want.” Then playfully teasing their make-out scenes in the past on Dawson’s Creek, she joked, “Josh is hilarious and cracks me up. And yeah, we spent a lot of time making out when we were on that show — only for the show. We never made out in real life.” The post Dawson’s Creek’s Busy Philipps on if She & Joshua Jackson ‘Made out in Real Life’ After Reunion Kiss appeared first on ComingSoon.net - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More. http://blogs.fangraphs.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Cal-Raleigh-HR-ALCS-G1.jpgDan Hamilton-Imagn Images Jorge Polanco played the hero on Friday night, ending the epic Division Series Game 5 with an RBI single in the 15th inning off the Tigers’ Tommy Kahnle. Two nights later, in the American League Championship Series opener in Toronto, Polanco added to his October highlight reel with a pair of late-inning RBI singles against Blue Jays relievers, the first of which gave Seattle the lead. The switch-hitting second baseman wasn’t the only Mariner who came up big, as Bryce Miller tossed six strong innings on three days of rest, Cal Raleigh clubbed a game-tying solo homer, and three relievers turned in perfect innings as the Mariners took Game 1 in Toronto, 3-1. In marked contrast to the four-hour and 58-minute Division Series finale that allowed Seattle to advance, this was a comparatively concise and fast-paced game, completed in two hours and 48 minutes. After throwing 209 pitches to the Tigers on Friday night, the Mariners mercifully needed just an even 100 pitches to dispatch the Blue Jays while giving up just two hits. For as compelling a matchup as an ALCS pitting the two 1977 expansion teams — one seeking its first World Series berth in 32 years, the other its first-ever pennant ever — the pairing of Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman against Miller appeared to be a mismatch based on their respective arcs. Coming off a strong regular season and a stellar Division Series Game 1 start against the Yankees, and with seven days of rest under his belt, Gausman appeared to have quite the advantage on Miller, who scuffled this year due to injuries, took an early exit in his Division Series Game 4 start against the Tigers, and started on Sunday only because ALDS Game 2 starter Luis Castillo and Game 3 starter Logan Gilbert were both called upon in relief during the extra innings of Game 5. After allowing just one run in 5 2/3 innings against the Yankees, Gausman nearly allowed one in the first against the Mariners. Raleigh and Julio Rodríguez both hit one-out singles, with the Big Dumper hustling to third on the latter. Polanco then hit a weak chopper toward third baseman Addison Barger, who was drawn in. He threw to catcher Alejandro Kirk in time to beat Raleigh; the replay suggested the Mariners might have had a case if they’d challenged the call. Josh Naylor got ahead 2-0, then connected on a splitter for a lazy fly ball to center field, beginning a stretch where Gausman cruised. From the point where he retired Naylor until the Mariners had two outs in the top of the sixth, the 34-year-righty retired 15 straight hitters, five via strikeouts. As for Miller, after a nice little breakout in 2024, he was the weakest link in the Seattle rotation this season due in part to bouts of elbow inflammation, which sent him to the injured list twice for a total of 92 days. If his 5.68 ERA and 5.17 FIP weren’t bad enough to begin with, he posted a 6.79 ERA and 6.09 FIP in 59 2/3 innings from June 5 — two starts before he was first sidelined — to the end of the season. His stuff wasn’t as sharp as in 2024, and his strikeout rate plummeted from 24.3% to 18.9%, as batters chased his four-seamer, splitter, and slider substantially less often. His gaudy 5.68 ERA was the second-highest regular season mark among the 43 pitchers who started a playoff game in either the Wild Card or Division Series rounds, better only than Aaron Nola’s 6.01. Miller threw just 56 pitches over 4 1/3 innings against the Tigers in Game 4 of the Division Series, holding Detroit scoreless for the first four frames before allowing a leadoff single to Spencer Torkelson and a one-out RBI double to Dillon Dingler, who soon came around to score. At the outset of this one, he didn’t figure to throw many pitches, and it didn’t take long to ponder the possibility that he wouldn’t make it out of the first inning, as he retired just one of the first four Blue Jays he faced. His first pitch on Sunday night, a 97.3-mph fastball to George Springer, was a well-placed fastball on the outer edge of the one, but Springer reached out and hammered it to right field for a solo home run. Nathan Lukes then battled Miller for a 12-pitch walk, one that was interrupted when he fouled a ball off his right knee, which caused a delay for a few minutes. Barger followed with another walk, putting Miller on the ropes. Raleigh then visited Miller on the mound, and whatever he said, it flipped a switch for the 27-year-old righty. He retired both Kirk and Daulton Varsho on fly balls, with Rodríguez chasing down the latter’s 102.5-mph drive. All told, Miller threw 27 pitches in the inning. Building on his escape from the first, however, Miller found a groove. He needed just 32 pitches to complete the next four innings, with a one-out single in the second inning by Anthony Santander the only hit he allowed in that span. On that one, Santander hit a high first-pitch four-seamer from Miller for a 100-mph liner to right field, where Victor Robles — who must have been caught off-guard, as he had his defensive alignment card between his teeth (!) — ran the ball down after it bounced twice, only for it to squirt away as Santander advanced to second on the error. Nonetheless, the Blue Jays stranded him. Riding his streak of 15 straight retired (16 straight including the out at the plate), Gausman got Raleigh to a 2-2 count with two outs in the sixth, and tried to throw a splitter down and in. He left the pitch too far over the plate, and Raleigh pulverized it, sending it 420 feet to right center field for a game-tying homer, his second of the postseason after an astounding 60 during the regular season. After Gausman walked Rodríguez on five pitches, his night was over. He’d thrown 76 pitches, getting 10 swings and misses, with five coming against his splitter, three on his four-seamer (which averaged 95.4 mph), and two with his slider. The Mariners did manage eight hard-hit balls of 95 mph or higher against him — none harder than Raleigh’s 108-mph home run — but five of those were on the ground. Gausman’s outing might have looked better. Blue Jays manager John Schneider could have called upon a right-handed reliever to keep Polanco batting from what had been his weaker side this year; he hit .254/.321/.481 (127 wRC+) against righties compared to a sizzling .305/.345/.543 (150 wRC+) against lefties. That said, on a career basis Polanco has been a better hitter against righties (116 wRC+) than lefties (110 wRC+), and two of the next three hitters (Naylor and Dominic Canzone) were lefties as well. Schneider played the larger sample size by calling upon lefty Brendon Little, who sent Rodríguez to second on a wild pitch as the count ran full. Two pitches later, Polanco scorched a single to left field — at 110.7 mph, it was the fastest off the bat for either team all night — plating Rodríguez to give the Mariners a 2-1 lead. Little recovered to strike out Naylor and end the threat. Mariners manager Dan Wilson sent Miller out for the sixth. He needed just six pitches to retire Myles Straw, who had taken over for Lukes in the fourth, and Vladimir Guererro Jr., but then issued a two-out, four-pitch walk to Barger. It seemed as though Miller’s night was done after another mound visit, but he stayed in to retire Kirk on a fly ball. The Mariners had a chance to expand their lead in the seventh after Eugenio Suárez missed a solo home run by a couple of inches and had to settle for a loud double off the right-center field wall against Louis Varland. He advance to third on a Canzone grounder but got no further. However, the Mariners did push across another run in the eighth, when Seranthony Domínguez issued a leadoff walk to Randy Arozarena, who after Raleigh struck out stole second and third base, the latter without a throw. Rodríguez worked a walk, and then Polanco, back to batting left-handed, drove in Arozarena with a single to right field. Polanco is just 6-for-26 this postseason, but five of those hits have been massive: two solo homers off Tarik Skubal in their ALDS Game 2 win, plus the winning hit on Friday, and plus these two. That’s already the stuff of what legends are made. Miller departed after six innings, having matched Gausman’s pitch count of 76. Where he got just one whiff in the first two innings, he finished the night with eight: three apiece on his four-seamer and splitter, and one apiece on his sinker and slider. He walked three and struck out three but allowed just the two hits. It was the first time since April 29 that he allowed fewer than two runs in a start. Under the circumstances, it was a brilliant outing. After he departed, the Mariners bullpen made short work of the Blue Jays, with Gabe Speier, Matt Brash, and Andrés Muñoz each needing just eight pitches to set the side down in order; they combined to get just two whiffs and strike out just one hitter (Brash punched out Springer in the eighth) but allowed just two hard-hit balls, both routine fly outs. Between Miller and the relievers, Guerrero, Varsho and Ernie Clement — three hitters who went a combined 25-for-47 against the Yankees — were held hitless in 10 plate appearances. Before the series opened, I wondered if the Mariners would experience any kind of hangover effect after their marathon victory. I spent a bit of time researching on Baseball Reference, looking at the eight previous teams that had advanced to the next round of the postseason after taking a winner-take-all game in extra innings. Photo Credit: HBO Max Mark Ruffalo and Brad Ingelsby recently reflected on the shocking events of Task’s penultimate episode. They discussed filming Lizzie and Robbie’s emotional deaths and the impact those scenes have on the show’s characters. These moments also set the stage for the season finale. Mark Ruffalo and Brad Ingelsby on Lizzie and Robbie’s gut-wrenching deaths in Task Episode 6 Episode 6 of Task, titled “Out Beyond Ideas of Wrongdoing and Rightdoing, There Is a River,” ends with two major deaths: Lizzie (Alison Oliver) and Robbie (Tom Pelphrey). During a violent standoff between the FBI and the Dark Hearts gang, a getaway car fatally strikes Lizzie after a nearby gunfire blast leaves her with tinnitus. She tries to radio for backup but fails amid the chaos. Series creator Brad Ingelsby explained to Entertainment Weekly that Lizzie’s “horrible” death carries “a tremendous amount of guilt” for Grasso (Fabien Frankel), who indirectly caused the tragedy by letting gang members Jayson and Perry escape. Ingelsby said, “He thought he was able to manage all these things… now the house of cards has fallen down.” He added that the loss makes Aleah (Thuso Mbedu) and Tom (Mark Ruffalo) more determined to uncover the truth. The episode also features Robbie’s death during a brutal fight with Jayson, the man responsible for killing his brother, Billy. Robbie suffers a fatal chest wound and dies in Tom’s arms while being taken to the hospital. Ruffalo told EW that the moment reflects Tom’s deep empathy and understanding of Robbie’s motives, explaining, “He understands why he’s doing what he does.” Ruffalo described Tom’s compassion as his “superpower,” noting that he sees Robbie as “a good man who made bad choices in bad circumstances.” The emotional sequence brings Tom’s journey full circle. It recalls his past as a priest as he comforts Robbie in his final moments. Task concludes its first season on October 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, with the finale expected to explore the aftermath of Lizzie and Robbie’s deaths. Outfielder Nathan Lukes exited Game 1 of the ALCS during the fourth inning tonight after fouling a ball off of his knee earlier in the game. He was replaced by Myles Straw in the outfield, and manager John Schneider noted to Ken Rosenthal on the FOX Sports broadcast that Lukes was going to get an x-ray done on his ailing knee, and that the issue “looked more like a bruise” upon initial evaluation. The Blue Jays later announced that he had exited the game due to a right knee contusion and would undergo further evaluation. After the game, Schneider told reporters (including Mitch Bannon of The Athletic) that Lukes’s x-rays came back clean and would be back in the lineup tomorrow if medically cleared to play. While it’s undoubtedly good news that Lukes avoided a fracture, the injury is still worrisome for the Jays. Lukes was only an average bat in the regular season this year, with a 103 wRC+ across 135 games, but in five playoff games so far this postseason he’s been a key piece of the Toronto lineup with a .286/.357/.429 slash line across his 14 plate appearances this October. Straw and Davis Schneider would be the most likely candidates to step into the lineup if Lukes were forced to miss time, and while they both were respectable pieces for the Jays this year, adding another right-handed bat to the lineup would be less than ideal against Seattle’s heavily right-handed pitching staff given that Lukes is a career 109 wRC+ hitter against righties. It likely won’t be clear just how serious the bruise Lukes is dealing with is until tomorrow, when he’ll be re-evaluated to see if he can play. Players like Kyle Tucker, Mike Trout, and Cody Bellinger have missed significant time during the regular season in recent years due to bone bruises after fouling balls off of their knee or shin, though it’s unclear if Lukes’s ailment is at quite that level of severity. It’s entirely possible that Lukes is dealing with a much less serious contusion and won’t be at substantial risk for missing time, particularly given the fact that players will typically attempt to play through injuries they normally wouldn’t in the postseason. With that being said, it’s worth keeping an eye on Lukes even if he’s able to play tomorrow. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the contusion was serious enough to impact his ability on the field. Even if he’s not impacted at the plate, he’ll surely be moving more gingerly on the bases and in the field than he normally would. With Schneider boasting a 127 wRC+ in the regular season and a 2-for-8 line with two walks in the posteason this year, it’s not hard to imagine a diminished Lukes no longer being preferable to start over Schneider, who could be brought into the lineup either by shifting Anthony Santander to right field and placing him in left, or moving Addison Barger to right field to open up third base for Ernie Clement so he can play second. The Guardians managed to make a miracle run to not only squeak into the postseason, but pry the AL Central title away from the Tigers over the final weeks of the season. That wasn’t enough, however, to stop them from falling to their division rivals in the AL Wild Card series, sending them home just a few days into the postseason. Now that the offseason is upon them, Cleveland’s front office has turned its attention to the 2026 campaign. As Zack Meisel of The Athletic discussed earlier this week, president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti told reporters in the aftermath of the Guardians’ loss that improving production in right and center field would be a priority this offseason. That’s not necessarily a surprise. GM Mike Chernoff noted to reporters (including Meisel) that the club ranked 28th in runs per game this year, and described the offense as a “clear area” in need of improvement next season. Getting more offense out of the outfield should be the easiest way to do that by far, seeing as the Guardians ranked 29th in the majors with a 77 wRC+ from their outfielders this year. Part of that is due to left fielder Steven Kwan’s down season, although he still posted a 99 wRC+ and seems to be a fairly safe bet to handle left for Cleveland again in 2026, barring a surprise trade. While there’s little reason to worry about Kwan in left, the same can’t be said for the other two outfield spots. Angel Martinez, Nolan Jones, Lane Thomas, and Jhonkensy Noel handled most of the reps at those positions, and all four turned in negative WAR performances according to Fangraphs this season. Thomas will be hitting free agency after this year’s injury-marred campaign where he appeared in just 39 games. The other three will all remain under club control next year, but none inspires much confidence heading into next year. Some opportunity for improvement could come from within. Chase DeLauter has not yet made his regular season debut but appeared in the Wild Card series, and Meisel relays that Antonetti expects him to compete for a roster spot in Spring Training next year. Rookie George Valera managed a 113 wRC+ in 16 games this year and could get an opportunity next year, as well. Perhaps an outfield of Kwan in left, DeLauter in center, and Valera in right could work out for the Guardians, but it seems fair to argue that at least one external addition will be necessary to offer some certainty, and perhaps help balance a trio of lefty-swinging outfielders with a right-handed hitter. Reuniting with Thomas is at least plausible, but he’s hit just .189/.258/.340 in 92 games with the Guardians over the past two seasons and a change of scenery may be what’s best for both sides. Harrison Bader would be perhaps an ideal acquisition for the team, but it’s possible that his excellent work with the Phillies down the stretch (129 wRC+ in 50 games) may have put him out of Cleveland’s price range. Rob Refsnyder and Austin Hays are both also set to be available in free agency this winter. Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia and Astros outfielder Chas McCormick are both possible non-tender candidates who could help improve Cleveland’s outfield mix with a bounce-back season, as well. The Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball have interest in acquiring veteran right-hander Kenta Maeda, according to a report from Yahoo Sports Japan. Maeda, 37, indicated back in August that he plans to leave MLB and return to Japan for the 2026 season, where he hopes to find a role in NPB. The veteran’s decision to leave MLB behind isn’t exactly a surprise given how difficult the past two seasons have been for him. After he struggled to a 6.09 ERA in 112 1/3 innings of work with the Tigers in 2024, he failed to make the club’s rotation out of Spring Training and opened the season as a long relief option out of the bullpen. He ultimately wound up making just seven appearances, however, and allowed eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits, six walks, a home run and three hit batsmen while striking out eight across eight innings of work. He was ultimately released in early May, bringing the two-year, $24MM contract between the sides to a disappointing end. Since being released by Detroit, Maeda has pitched in the minor leagues for both the Cubs and Yankees this year. In 20 starts between those two organizations, he pitched to a 5.40 ERA in 100 innings at the Triple-A level, with a 19.5% strikeout rate against a 9.2% walk rate. With that said, he did improve a bit during his stint with the Yankees’ affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, as he posted a 4.64 ERA with a 21.5% strikeout rate and a 7.9% walk rate over his final eight starts of the season. He ended his stateside career on a positive note when he threw five scoreless innings against the Triple-A Buffalo Bison and struck out five batters. Weak as Maeda’s results at the big league level have been over the past two years, one shouldn’t forget that he was a quality starter for several years for the Dodgers and Twins after making his big league debut back in 2016. Through the end of his age-35 campaign in 2023, Maeda had posted a career 3.92 ERA and 3.74 FIP in 866 1/3 regular season innings in the majors to go along with a strong postseason resume that saw him pitch to a 3.24 ERA and strike out 26.8% of his opponents in 41 2/3 playoff innings. That solid track record in the majors, of course, came after eight seasons with NPB’s Hiroshima Carp. After breaking out during the 2010 season at the age of 22, Maeda posted six consecutive seasons with an ERA of 2.60 or lower across 175 innings or more for the Carp, including an eye-popping 1.53 ERA in 206 1/3 innings across 29 starts during the 2012 season. He made five All-Star games for Hiroshima, but now it’s possible that he’ll join a new club in his return to NPB next year given Yomiuri’s interest in his services. Of course, it’s also possible that the Carp (or another club) could express interest in Maeda’s services once the NPB offseason begins later this month. View the full article
