Photo Credit: Noam Kroll on YouTube A new short film about a never-ending stand-in ovation at the Cannes Film Festival is now available to watch for free. Ovation is directed by Noam Kroll. Written and performed by Luke Barnett, the short film was inspired by Joaquin Phoenix’s reaction to the standing ovation that Ari Aster’s Eddington movie received at the Cannes Film Festival. How can I watch Ovation? Ovation is now free to watch on Noam Kroll’s YouTube page. View it below (watch more trailers and clips): Kroll said in a statement, “I loved the idea of shooting the whole film in one unbroken take to emulate the uncomfortable, often invasive feeling of real-life video coverage at festival premieres. That approach also gave Luke the space to unravel his performance in real time, without cut points – so the audience feels like they’re right there in the room with him, riding the same emotional rollercoaster.” Barnett added, “The short was inspired by watching Joaquin Phoenix during Eddington’s ovation at Cannes. You can tell it affected him and meant a lot…for about 45 seconds. After that, I’m guessing his soul slowly and uncomfortably died. While any artist—myself included—would love to have that reaction to something they’ve created, I kept thinking…what do you do after that first minute passes, and a thousand people are still staring and clapping?” Barnett — who previously wrote, starred in, and co-directed The Crossing Over Express short film, which went viral at the end of last year, with Tanner Thomason — is also starring in Kroll’s upcoming film Teacher’s Pet, which will be released early next year and co-stars Barbara Crampton. Additionally, Barnett recently wrapped a recurring role on AMC’s Dark Winds show. Ovation was shot in just two hours for approximately $50, largely thanks to a two-person crew, Kroll and DP Andy Chinn, and a handful of actors willing to join the project at the last minute. (Photo Credit: Blumhouse) Five years after the first installment was released, Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss has opened up about the long development process of The Invisible Man 2. Despite being cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie still performed very well at the box office. It earned a worldwide gross of over $145 million at the box office against a reported budget of around $7 million. What did Elisabeth Moss say about The Invisible Man 2? During a recent interview with ScreenRant, Moss confirmed that The Invisible Man 2 is still in the works, revealing that they’re taking their time finding the right story for the sequel. She also praised Universal Pictures and Blumhouse for not compromising the sequel’s story quality for the sake of profit. “We could have easily just churned out a sequel and thrown it up on streaming and called it a day, and I think some people would’ve made money off of that,” Moss said. “I am so grateful to Universal and Blum for not doing that and for having a standard that’s unusual in these circumstances and really wanting it to be worth doing. So it’s an unusual thing, but that doesn’t usually happen. But I feel like it’s important. We love that movie so much. The people who made it – we’re so proud of it.” She continued, “We really want to make sure [that] if we do a sequel, it’s worthy and it’s going to have to be as good, if not better. So that’s been kind of what’s slowed us down. But I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I think if we’re going to do it, it’s got to be right. But we still want to do it. We’re still working on it. We just have to get the right script together. The Invisible Man was written, directed, and executive-produced by Leigh Whannell, one of the original conceivers of the Saw franchise. The movie also starred Aldis Hodge, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Storm Reid, Harriet Dyer, and Michael Dorman. During its theatrical run, the sci-fi horror movie wasn’t only a commercial success but was also a hit among critics, with a Certified Fresh rating of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. Photo by Karwai Tang/WireImage via Getty Images Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. have become close friends ever since the two met in the world of the MCU. Now, the pair have surprised fans with a new reunion. How did Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. reunite? The pair came together once again for a new ad, teasing the collaboration between their companies BERO and Happy Coffee. BERO, a non-alcoholic beer brand by Holland, seems to be working together with Downey’s Happy Coffee for some sort of future product. Despite the reunion not coming in the MCU (yet), fans online were quick to share happiness at seeing the pair together yet again. Check out the ad and some reactions below: As of now, it’s unclear whether or not Holland’s Spider-Man will appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which Downey leads as Doctor Doom. Rumors have suggested that Holland could appear, while others noted that Doomsday might exclude Holland’s Spider-Man and instead have him show up in Avengers: Secret Wars. In the meantime, Holland is currently busy filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He’ll be joined by cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal, and Trammell Tillman, among others. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, and Avi Arad. Photo Credit: Universal Pictures The future of the Fast & Furious franchise — and, specifically, Fast 11 — is looking uncertain, largely due to budget concerns. Fast X was released in United States theaters in 2023. The tenth film in the main The Fast and the Furious franchise, Fast X was originally supposed to kickstart a new trilogy. That changed when the movie didn’t make as much as Universal Pictures expected it to, as it was then announced that Fast 11 would instead be the final installment in the franchise. Having said that, there hasn’t been much news about Fast 11, also sometimes referred to as Fast X: Part 2 or Fast and Furious 11, advancing. Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious movies, has publicly asked Universal to give the film a release date, but there haven’t been many substantial updates on the project in some time. What is the latest Fast & Furious 11 update? According to a recent article shared by the Wall Street Journal, Fast 11 doesn’t have an approved script as of yet, while “most” of the cast don’t have deals to star in the film. “Executives at Universal aren’t even certain they’ll make the movie unless they and the filmmakers can find a way to produce it far more economically than the last installment, which barely earned a profit,” the article reads. “Universal executives have told filmmakers they won’t make another sequel unless it costs around $200 million. That way, it would earn a healthy profit even if it grosses less than Fast X. Studios typically look for a film to gross three times its budget to earn a targeted return on investment.” Fast X made approximately $714.4 million at the global box office off an estimated $378 million budget. There is still a chance that Fast & Furious 11 could start filming next spring, most likely in Los Angeles, and then be released in 2027. The most recent Fast 11 script draft would cost approximately $250 million to make, meaning the Fast and Furious filmmakers need to shave off around $50 million or further negotiate with Universal. “They’re considering shooting in fewer global locations and giving some cast members smaller roles, if they appear at all,” the article states. “Though Universal hasn’t made deals with many of the movie’s actors, their agents aren’t expecting raises. The studio is also considering less expensive ways to continue Fast & Furious in the future, people familiar with the matter said. Writers are working on scripts for a live-action television series, and executives have discussed spinoff films for certain characters or a stripped-down, lower-budget movie.” The post Fast & Furious’ Future Uncertain as Universal Balks at Fast 11 Budget appeared first on ComingSoon.net - Movie Trailers, TV & Streaming News, and More. Photo Credit: Sony Pictures Releasing New Spider-Man: Brave New Day set photos have made their way online, teasing some potentially major stunts taking place in the skies. What is seen in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set photos? The newest set photos don’t show any more major looks at Spider-Man, but do tease what the character could be getting up to in the movie. In the newest photos, parts of a large helicopter, police trucks, and other vehicles could be seen being driven onto set. While not indicative of anything outside of their place in the movie, the use of a helicopter could be teasing some big airborne stunts involving Spider-Man, and fans online were quick to theorize what it could mean. Check out the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set photos below: Spider-Man: Brand New Day is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie will once again be led by Tom Holland as he reprises his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Emmy winner Zendaya and Jacob Batalo are also expected to return for the sequel. They will be joined by cast members Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear), Jon Bernthal, and Trammell Tillman, among others. Photo Credit: Disney+ Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld has finally opened up about her upcoming projects with Marvel. Besides voicing the character of Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Verse franchise, Steinfeld is also best known for playing Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What did Hailee Steinfeld say about her future Marvel projects? During a recent interview with Variety, Steinfeld was asked about her rumored return in a potential Young Avengers project, after she was listed as a cast member in a new Marvel series titled Champions on IMDb. She admitted that she doesn’t know anything about the said mysterious listing. However, she confirmed that she’s always ready to come back as Kate Bishop whenever Marvel calls her. “I saw that! You’re telling me anyone can just update IMDb now? Because part of me was like, “Is this someone random just throwing stuff out? Or someone who knows something?” she said. “As for Marvel, I’m always waiting by the phone. I love that family. I’m so grateful to be a part of it. Anytime they need me, they know where to find me.” In addition, Steinfeld also shared an update regarding the status of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, revealing that she has been in the recording studio multiple times as the project has been constantly evolving. “We’re into it. I wonder sometimes if anything ever gets scrapped, because I’ve said the word ‘Miles’ in so many different ways and tones — they probably have a whole library,” she continued. “But the process is constantly changing. You never get the full script at the top. It evolves. And that makes it so crazy and fun to be a part of.” Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson are directing the animated threequel from a screenplay written by Dave Callaham, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller. Photo Credit: 20th Century Studios The final trailer for Predator: Badlands has been released. The next installment in the Predator franchise, titled Predator: Badlands, hits theaters next month. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the film stars Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi and Elle Fanning, among others. Check out the final Predator: Badlands trailer below (watch more trailers and clips): What happens in the final Predator: Badlands trailer? The final Predator: Badlands trailer sees a young Predator embark on a dangerous hunt on a dangerous planet full of creatures who want to kill him. There, he meets a synth named Thia, played by Fanning, who accompanies him on his quest. “Set in the future on a deadly remote planet, Badlands follows a young Predator outcast (played by newcomer Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) who finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Elle Fanning) as he embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary,” the official synopsis reads. Trachtenberg previously directed the 2022 Predator movie, Prey, and the animated Predator: Killer of Killers anthology film. Before that, he helmed 10 Cloverfield Lane in 2016, while he’s also directed episodes of Black Mirror, The Boys, and The Lost Symbol. Trachtenberg serves as a producer on Predator: Badlands alongside John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor. While some fans of Predator were speculating that Badlands could secretly crossover with the Alien franchise, Trachtenberg recently told Empire Magazine people shouldn’t be getting their hopes up for that to happen.“There’s no Xenomorph in this movie. But to me, that makes it more exciting. We’re not involving [the Alien franchise] just to smush the action figures together. There are great, organic story reasons for Weyland-Yutani to be in this film.” Predator: Badlands will be released in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD (3D), Cinemark XD, 4DX, ScreenX, and premium screens on November 7, 2025, from 20th Century Studios. Right-hander Takahiro Norimoto of the Rakuten Eagles in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball is planning to exercise his international free agent rights and gauge interest from both MLB and NPB teams this winter, per a report from Yahoo Japan (hat tip to Yakyu Cosmopolitan). He’s hired the Wasserman agency to represent him in talks with major league teams, per the report. The now-34-year-old righty moved to the bullpen in 2024 after a lengthy and successful run as a starting pitcher. He’s spent the past two seasons as the Eagles’ closer. Norimoto is older than most players making the transition from NPB to MLB. He’ll turn 35 in December. The right-hander is coming off a nice year with the Eagles, having pitched to a 3.02 ERA with 16 saves, four holds and only two blown saves. His 17.2% strikeout rate and 8.4% walk rate don’t exactly stand out, though Norimoto has still shown the ability to run his heater up in the 97 mph range since moving to the bullpen last season. He kept nearly 50% of his opponents’ batted balls on the ground this past season as well. Norimoto hasn’t had issues missing bats in the past. He led NPB in strikeouts for five straight years, from 2014-18, while working out of the Eagles’ rotation. He’s pitched 1838 career innings in NPB and recorded a 3.12 ERA while winning 120 games, saving another 48 and punching out nearly 24% of his opponents (against a 6.3% walk rate). Due to the fact that Norimoto is at least 25 and has at least six full seasons of professional experience, he’s exempt from Major League Baseball’s international bonus pool structure. The fact that he has more than nine seasons of service in NPB means he is also exempt from the posting system. If he indeed exercises those international free agent rights, he’d be free to sign with any club on a big league or minor league deal — provided MLB teams have sufficient interest in the former Pacific League Rookie of the Year and six-time NPB All-Star. While we don’t see too many players jump to MLB in their mid-30s, Orioles right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano did just that in 2025. This past year was Sugano’s rookie season in MLB and came in his own age-35 campaign. Sugano, of course, did so as a starter. Former Red Sox righty Hirokazu Sawamura and former D-backs/Mariners righty Yoshihisa Hirano are more recent examples of relievers making relatively successful moves to MLB in their mid-30s; the former signed with Boston ahead of his age-33 season in 2022, while the latter signed with Arizona ahead of the 2018 campaign, his age-34 season. Big league clubs are always on the lookout for affordable bullpen help, so there could still be interest in Norimoto even if he’s not as coveted at 35 as he might’ve been in his physical peak. As a rotation-mate of former Yankees right-hander Masahiro Tanaka for Tanaka’s first three seasons back in Japan after his run in the Bronx, Norimoto has surely picked the former MLB All-Star’s brain about moving to the majors in the past. It’s not entirely certain he’ll be pitching in North America next year, but he’s an interesting wild card entrant into the offseason bullpen market. View the full article

What do we know about Prime Video’s Ballard Season 2? Street Fighter: New Video Game Movie’s Stunts Teased by WWE Star
Angeltreacys posted a topic in News
(Image Credit: Capcom) Cody Rhodes has shared an update on the forthcoming Street Fighter movie. A new Street Fighter movie directed by Kitao Sakurai is now in production. Based on the popular video game series published by Capcom, the film is scheduled to arrive in United States theaters in a little over a year from Paramount Pictures. WWE star Cody Rhodes has been tapped to play Guile in the Street Fighter movie, while the cast also includes Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, and more. What did Cody Rhodes say about the Street Fighter movie? During a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show, via Wrestling Inc., Rhodes shared an update about the film’s production and teased some of the stunts that fans will see once the movie is finished. “I was adamant that anything that’s a stunt, I want to do it,” Rhodes said. “If that requires me being on these wires, I want to do it. If you put another guy in the corner who I know is gonna do the shot after, I still want a shot at it.” Rhodes said that he was allowed to attempt to do most of his character’s stunts at least once, while stuntmen then filmed extra takes. The WWE star said he was unsure how many of the stunt scenes he filmed would make it into the final cut of Street Fighter. “Noah [Centineo], Callina [Liang], and [Andrew] Koji, who are the three leads, [are] unbelievably good actors, who are taking it so dead serious and are there to work every day,” Rhodes added. “Then you’ve got me, 50 Cent, Andrew Schultz, and Roman. We were able to play.” The Street Fighter movie officially arrives on October 16, 2026. Originally reported by Brandon Schreur at SuperHeroHype. Welcome to Today in Books, our daily round-up of literary headlines at the intersection of politics, culture, media, and more. The Sad State of Literary Fiction Perhaps because I’m rarely looking at the state of books through the exclusive lens of literary fiction, this opinion on the dearth of good lit fic and, hence, the tough job of serving on this year’s Booker Prize jury, raised my eyebrows. The piece spawned from a comment made by Irish author and Booker Prize jury chair Roddy Doyle to a Southbank Centre in London audience. Doyle allegedly said too many of the 153 novels submitted for the prize were a waste of the jury’s time. If you’re curious about which books were decidedly not a waste of time and made the Booker shortlist, you can find that list here. Meanwhile, I’ve been celebrating how many great books are out this year but, again, I’m speaking very inclusively. I’m thinking about One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This (nonfiction), The Buffalo Hunter Hunter (speculative historical fiction), Katabasis (fantasy), Mother Mary Comes to Me (memoir), and others across the genre/category spectrum. I’ve probably read more literary fiction this year than in previous years and I admit I can only name one so far that’s stayed with me (Stone Yard Devotional by Charlotte Wood, funny enough shortlisted for last year’s Booker Prize but published in the U.S. this year), but I’m very obviously not as attuned to the state of that category, so Johanna Thomas-Corr’s piece at The Times stood out as worth a read. The Paddington of It All Paddington Bear is learning the hard way that nothing is sacred in 2025. StudioCanal, Paddington’s rights holder, is suing a British producer for their YouTube series featuring a Paddingtonesque foul-mouthed podcast host. If you’re a YouTube viewer with a penchant for British content, you might have heard about this irreverent BAFTA and Emmy award-winning puppet show, but if you haven’t it sounds like no celebrity or politician is safe from its roasting antics. The lawsuit cites copyright and design right issues. It’s hard to say how strong a case they have in the High Court as I’m not sure how satire plays into copyright infringement claims across the pond, but my guess is that it’ll be hard won if it’s won at all.
