Photo Credit: Netflix George Clooney, who is set to appear in Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, recently revealed why he wants to keep his kids away from Hollywood culture. The Ocean’s Eleven star married human rights lawyer Amal Clooney in 2014. In 2017, the couple welcomed their twins, Alexander and Ella. Despite gaining fame from movies like Gravity and The Descendants, the 64-year-old actor spoke about why he wants to keep his kids away from the L.A. life, and why he worries they wouldn’t have a fair chance growing up. George Clooney on raising kids outside Hollywood culture George Clooney recently talked about his family. He shared that he drives a van for carpool and often has his kids singing along to Hamilton in the back. In an interview with Esquire earlier this week, the Wolfs star, who now lives on a farm in France with his family, talked about raising his kids away from Hollywood. He explained that living on a farm gives his kids a normal childhood, away from screens and celebrity culture. “Yeah, we’re very lucky. You know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid I hated the whole idea of it. But now, for them, it’s like—they’re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life,” he said. Clooney further explained that he worried about raising them in Los Angeles. “I was worried about raising our kids in L. A., in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France—they kind of don’t give a shit about fame. I don’t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don’t want them being compared to somebody else’s famous kids.” Fans eager to see George Clooney on screen will get to watch him later this year. He will feature in a comedy-drama alongside Adam Sandler called Jay Kelly, which hits select theaters on November 14 and will stream worldwide on Netflix from December 5. Photo Credit: Netflix Netflix’s Monster: The Ed Gein Story featured not only the titular serial killer, but also Ted Bundy and Richard “Birdman” Speck. While Ted Bundy is infamous, given the number of documentaries on his horrifying acts, viewers of the series are curious to know more about who Richard “Birdman” Speck really is and how he’s related to Ed Gein. Here are the details on Richard “Birdman” Speck. Who is Richard Speck aka the Birdman in Monster Season 3? Richard Speck (Tobias Jelinek), known as the “Birdman,” is a notorious serial killer depicted in Monster: The Ed Gein Story. He was arrested after murdering eight nursing students in 1966. In the series, he is portrayed as a serial killer who considered Ed Gein (Charlie Hunnam) as a role model. Speck earned the nickname “Birdman” from an incident during his time in prison. According to John E. Douglas’s book, Mindhunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, Speck reportedly nursed a sparrow back to health after it flew into his cell. However, when a guard told him that pets weren’t allowed, he threw the bird into a fan, saying, “If I can’t have it, no one can.” How is the Birdman related to Ed Gein? In real life, there is no reported connection between Gein, Bundy, and Speck. All three serial killers were active in different decades. However, in the show, Speck sends a letter to Gein from prison, thanking him for being an influence on him. He did so after he received a letter from Bundy (John T. O’Brien), who had been inspired by Speck’s murders. It showcases that Gein unknowingly inspired the birth of several serial killers. In the season finale, “The Godfather”, the show uses this as a plot device where Gein assists the FBI in helping to track down Bundy. All eight episodes of Monster: The Ed Gein Story are now available to stream on Netflix. Image credit: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures In the build-up to the release of Zootopia 2, co-director Jared Bush has come out to invalidate a popular theory regarding the film’s main villain that has been circulating on the internet for some time now. In a recent social media interaction, the Walt Disney Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer clarified the status of newly-recruited ZPD officer Nick Wilde’s family in the much-awaited sequel, debunking a major rumor in the process. Nick Wilde’s family won’t be in Zootopia 2 On September 29, Bush took to X (formerly Twitter) to conduct a brief Q&A session with fans. In the thread, one user posted a multi-part query about the characters in Zootopia 2, including the father of Jason Bateman’s Nick Wilde. While Bush failed to reveal the specifics about any featured member of his upcoming film, he did confirm that Wilde’s family won’t play a major part in the sequel. “Nick’s family is not explored in this film,” the Encanto co-director noted in his reply. In doing so, Bush put an end to a fan theory that positioned Nick’s father as the primary antagonist of Zootopia 2. Many Disney fans had previously deduced that the charismatic fox’s dad would turn out to be the movie’s villain after watching the sequel’s teaser trailer. In the snippet, the duo of Nick and Judy Hopps comes across a menacing, shadowy figure with a pair of glowing eyes beneath his hood. With the said entity sharing an uncanny resemblance to the physical features of Nick, netizens came to the conclusion that it could be none other than the father of Bateman’s character. However, Bush has since debunked this theory, thereby intensifying the mystery around the identity of Zootopia 2’s real antagonist. Given that the 2016 outing featured a twisted reveal regarding who the actual villain of the film was, Disney may choose to follow a similar route in the sequel. At the time of writing, Zootopia 2 is on track to hit theaters on November 26, 2025. Originally reported by Apoorv Rastogi on SuperHeroHype. Photo Credit: Michael Kirchoff/Disney via Getty Images Taylor Frankie Paul has been making waves in reality TV for some time now. Best known for her role on Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, she recently scored the lead spot in the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, set to premiere in 2026. Fans are already speculating that she may be joining another reality TV competition, Dancing With the Stars (DWTS). Is Bachelorette 2026’s Taylor Frankie Paul joining Dancing With the Stars? There is no official word that Taylor Frankie Paul has been cast on DWTS. However, her recent appearance at the premiere of Dancing With the Stars Season 34, alongside her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives co-stars, Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt, only fueled the speculation. Even Bachelor alum Ashley Iaconetti weighed in on a recent episode of The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast, predicting that Paul could be the next reality star to appear on the DWTS dance floor. If these rumors turn out to be true, it wouldn’t be a surprise because DWTS has a long history of casting celebrities who are often in the headlines, and Taylor Frankie Paul definitely fits the bill. She first caught attention with her TikTok content in the MomTok community, then moved on to Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, where fans and critics quickly became obsessed with her. In September 2022, Paul was announced as the lead for The Bachelorette Season 22, set to premiere in 2026. On top of all that, Taylor has made it clear that she loves to dance. Just last July, she posted a viral clip showing off her moves in the kitchen, captioned, “When DWTS asked if I had any dance experience? …umm no, but I am the creator of Baja Blast.” The video has since racked up close to 3 million views. While all the signs are pointing in the right direction, there’s still no official word that Taylor Frankie Paul is joining DWTS. Fans will have to wait for the show’s producers to give the green light. Photo Credit: CBS The Young and the Restless’ Peter Bergman shared his thoughts on his performance that gained him his 26th Daytime Emmy nomination. Although he was initially hesitant to submit his tape for consideration, the actor revealed he ultimately decided to do so after listening to “wiser people.” Here’s what the actor had to say about his performance and the nomination. Peter Bergman almost did not submit the tape of his Emmy-nominated Young and Restless scene Peter Bergman, who has played Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless since 1989, has earned his 26th nomination for the upcoming Daytime Emmy Awards. During an interview with TODAY.com, the actor responded with enthusiasm. Bergman said, “It never gets old. It just doesn’t. There’s something nice about the people in my industry saying, ‘Oh yeah, he’s one of the good ones.’” The Emmy-nominated actor recalled how he almost didn’t send the tape for his nominations because of the limit on how long the tape can be. He said, “You don’t get to show them that much variety in showing one scene from a show. Yes, it’s a long scene, but it’s one scene from a show.” He was also concerned about how the viewers would perceive the scene without the proper context of the episode. Bergman said, “Does the audience know this is not normal behavior for Jack? Does the audience stick around long enough while we kind of set it up that he’s trying to help her? Are they going to watch the entire thing and see just how far Jack was willing to go?” Nonetheless, the actor admitted that he submitted his tape after listening to “wiser people.” The episode that earned him his nomination is the one where Jack goes to extreme lengths to help his friend Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), who relapses into alcoholism. While he was happy about his nomination, he said, “I was disappointed that Melody didn’t get a nomination because she had probably a harder job in that show.” Furthermore, Bergman revealed that the storyline was quite personal to him as he had lost a close friend to alcohol addiction nine years ago. “It was a giant loss for me, so the subject was a very personal one,” he explained. Her former husband, Chester Gregory, took to social media to announce the news. Kimberly Hébert Gregory’s role in The Big Bang Theory explained Before Kimberly Hébert Gregory found her breakthrough roles in shows like Vice Principals as Dr. Belind Brown, she made guest appearances on several popular shows like The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Gossip Girl, and Grey’s Anatomy. He criticizes the psychic, saying that there is no scientific basis for what she does and calls her a fraud. Penny urges him to ask the psychic a question, but Sheldon was waiting for the psychic to read his mind. He then asks her about the next Star Trek movie, but the psychic instead reveals that he’s having trouble with a woman in his life. Ms. Davora describes Amy and adds that she’s in a similar profession to his. She also says that the woman (Amy) is the key to his happiness and urges him to embrace the relationship to fix all other problems. While Penny is impressed with her insights, Sheldon becomes angry and dismisses her by saying, “malarkey,” and leaves. The reason for the actress’s death has not been disclosed. Image credit: 20th Century Fox / Lucasfilm Ltd. A veteran English actor, whose career spans over four decades and includes Marvel projects as well as Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg movies, recently revealed why he couldn’t portray the father of Natalie Portman‘s Padmé Amidala in Star Wars. Ray Winstone, 68, has played George “Mac” McHale in Spielberg’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Arnold French in Scorsese’s The Departed, and Dreykov in the Marvel feature Black Widow. However, he failed the audition to be cast in Star Wars. Ray Winstone on why he failed audition to play Padmé Amidala’s father in Star Wars Winstone revealed during an interview with Far Out that he didn’t land the role of Padmé Amidala’s father because he was drunk. “I was pissed anyway,” he said. “I’d been out all night, and I turned up, and I knew I was wrong for the part as soon as I walked in, but instead of saying that, he [George Lucas] relayed the message to me through someone else, and I took umbrage at that.” In a previous interview, Winstone mentioned meeting Lucas in a hotel in the West End. He concluded that Lucas must be jet-lagged because he was yawning during the interaction. Winstone also remembered that Lucas didn’t greet him when he walked in or make small talk. He recalled saying to the filmmaker, “Why don’t we both have a 15-minute sleep and then I’ll f— off,” before adding that films like that would have bored “a— off” due to the involvement of the blue screen in production. (via Star Wars Aficionado) Interestingly, Winstone has since been part of several projects that have heavily used special effects and blue screen, including Black Widow. Ultimately, Winstone and Lucas worked together on the above-mentioned Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. “I’ve worked for George since, and he was fine,” Winstone told Far Out. “He didn’t remember. Or if he did, he didn’t take it to heart.” Actor Graeme Blundell ended up portraying Padmé’s father, Ruwee Naberrie, in 2005’s Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. I love Kristina Forest’s romances for teenagers and adults. Forest writes beautiful love stories that somehow manage to feel like fantasies and deeply relatable at the same time. But when I first read the description of her newest YA novel, Heartsick, I was surprised. The book looked like it was going to include many of my favorite romance tropes, including second-chance romance, opposites attract, and being on the run. But for the first time in one of Forest’s books, there was a big speculative twist that served as the catalyst for the story: a pill that could erase heartbreak. It sounded like something akin to one of my favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I was instantly intrigued by how this mixture of romance, science fiction, and adventure would play out. Heartsick by Kristina Forest Margot is a senior in high school who dreams about becoming a journalist one day, but has an internship at Healing Hearts Inc. because her parents think that’s more impressive. Every day at her internship, she helps customers through the process of taking a pill to erase their heartbreak. And even though she’s heartbroken herself after a recent breakup with Isaac, she’s never tempted to take the pill. She doesn’t want to give up on the possibility that they will work through their differences and get back together. But then Isaac walks into Healing Hearts, and she wonders if he wants to take the pill and erase everything they had. Isaac desperately wants to get back together with Margot, but he still doesn’t have his plans together for what’s happening after graduation. Meanwhile, she knows exactly what she wants. He’s always felt Margot was out of his league. For a moment, he thinks about taking the pill that will help him move on. But seeing Margot, he knows he can’t do it. Only he left his hat at Healing Hearts. And now it’s majorly awkward. He vows to tell Margot everything when he goes to pick up his hat. But before he can, Margot overhears the Healing Hearts Inc. executives saying some sketchy things about how the pills might be unsafe. And suddenly, Margot and Isaac are on the run from the executives’ bodyguards. The police are looking for them, too. And Margot’s parents don’t believe her when she tries to get help. With the help of some Internet sleuths, Margot and Isaac travel across the country trying to get enough evidence for Margot to write an exposé that reveals the truth. Their interviews with past customers provide an interesting psychological depth to the many reasons different people took the pill. This thematic exploration of heartbreak makes Margot and Isaac’s rekindled romance even more satisfying. I may have even exclaimed, “Finally!” when the two straighten out their misunderstandings and get back together. Somehow, this book is thoughtful, hilarious, and (of course) romantic all at the same time. It’s definitely my favorite YA read of the year so far! View the full article

My fellow rioter, Andy Minshew, did a fantastic job writing an August roundup of 6 of the Best Horror Short Story Collections. In the service of avoiding overlap, and by focusing on the word “recent,” my selection of horror short story collection recommendations will highlight works that have been published within the last couple of months, and include one upcoming title. 6 Recent and Upcoming Horror Short Story Collections Issues with Authority by Nadia Bulkin Shirley Jackson Award-nominated author Nadia Bulkin returns with a second collection that will rock your spooky season world. Bulkin’s collection is a whirlwind of stories about transformation and power, from a beauty pageant contestant who grows increasingly paranoid after a skin disease begins eating holes in her body, to a story about paracontagions that infect viewers depending on the type of media they watch (a phenomenon that the government is trying desperately to control). This collection—along with this whole list of collections and indeed with most horror collections—dabbles in the paranoia and abuses of power happening in our everyday lives. Bulkin takes the dial of these concepts and turns it up to the max. Midnight Somewhere by Johnny Compton (December 2025) Johnny Compton has been on a hell of a spree of producing brilliant horror tales, with The Spite House and Devils Kill Devils both receiving high praise and accolades. Midnight Somewhere is an upcoming collection by Compton, which includes 21 stories ranging from mysterious to downright murderous. A man gets in a car that will take him anywhere in time, including to the moment he made the worst mistake of his life. A film that is seemingly harmless starts to cause self-harm in those who watch it. A woman tries to bring her dead lover back to life in a ritual that includes attacking his very corpse. Ever since Spite House, I’ve been eager for more work, and this collection seems like it will be perfect to weather the dead of winter. Uncertain Sons and other Stories by Thomas Ha I have been a huge fan of Thomas Ha’s short fiction ever since reading the utterly eerie “Window Boy,” originally published in Clarkesworld in August 2023. “Window Boy” went on to be on numerous award finalist lists and was reprinted in Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy 2024. Ha is a true expert in brewing dread, along with encapsulating that beautifully uncomfortable quiet horror. Uncertain Sons is sure to be a collection that reverberates through the horror scene, and if you haven’t read Ha’s work before, you need to remedy that ASAP. Teenage Girls Can Be Demons by Hailey Piper Hailey Piper continues to rip a joyful bloody path through the horror scene, and I am pretty sure I squealed with delight when I first heard of her collection Teenage Girls Can be Demons. This collection comprises 13 stories of women-centered horror fiction, exploring girlhood and coming-of-age tales that will raise the hairs on your neck to glorious attention. From a Halloween prank going horribly wrong to mutant adolescents, this is the perfect nail-biting read for the Halloween season. Good and Evil and Other Stories by Samanta Schweblin, translated by Megan McDowell Samanta Schweblin is a master of telling the unsettling and unforgettable short story. Ever since Fever Dream was published in 2014, I’ve been in awe of her work. Good and Evil is a collection of six stories that has us confront the horrors and monsters that live inside ourselves. From a mother who returns from the lake outside her house—only to wish she can go back—to a woman on her deathbed who calls an old friend for the first time since a terrible accident, these stories ask us to look into the darkness and hold its gaze. Tell Me Yours I’ll Tell You Mine by Kristina Ten As I’ve already mentioned Kristina Ten’s amazing work in numerous posts, this choice is a no-brainer. Ten’s collection has already amassed recommendations from many writers, including the horror titan Stephen Graham Jones. I am absolutely feral for the story “The Dizzy Room,” originally published in Nightmare Magazine, but any story Ten writes is a winner. Her work is unsettling, nostalgic, elegiac, and poetic. It’s the perfect eerie read for settling in by a fire with a hot drink. Support the Short Story Form in All Genres I recently read a thread on Bluesky that held the short story collection in a bleak light. The poster claimed that one should not publish too many short story collections; best to leave readers hungry for more. For lack of a better word, I find that whole idea to be utter poppycock. The short story form has been a part of storytelling, be it oral or written, since time immemorial. We certainly didn’t tell Ernest Hemingway or Lydia Davis to chill out with their writing, so why argue it for the short story writers who are kicking ass right now? Support the short story and the short story collection, dear reader, and support the writers who create them. Let them forge new paths, in whatever genre, to their hearts’ content, be it one collection or dozens. As readers, as people, we are better off for it. View the full article

Photo Credit: Dia Dipasupil/Getty Images Hilaria Baldwin recently put divorce rumors to rest after she posted a new reel clarifying that things are going well with her husband, Alec Baldwin. In recent weeks, rumors had circulated about the couple splitting up due to an observation that the Dancing With the Stars alum addressed in the new reel. Hilaria Baldwin debunks divorce with Alec Baldwin The divorce rumors began after fans noticed something peculiar about Hilaria Baldwin. Many spotted her without a wedding ring during her Dancing With the Stars rehearsals. Fans saw her again in the next rehearsal without the ring. This quickly sparked speculation of tension and a possible future split. However, it seems that the ring was missing for an entirely different reason. Hilaria Baldwin explained the situation on her social media profile, where she posted a reel featuring herself with a plush toy of Alec’s Beetlejuice character. She also showcased her ring prominently in the video. In the caption, she wrote, “Don’t worry Cammy, got my Alec stand in here while he is gone working ?. And ring is right here (tho I don’t wear to practice because it hurts with the crazy stuff we are doing ?).” It appears that Hilaria chooses not to wear her ring during rehearsals simply for convenience. The large ring causes discomfort during choreography, which is why she skipped wearing it during the past two sessions. There seems to be no trouble between Hilaria and Alec Baldwin. Alec is away for work at the moment, but he still managed to support his wife in the dance studio. According to reports, Alec visited one of her early rehearsals. Moreover, some sources suggested he was a bit too involved (via Rob Shuter). Fans can rest assured that Hilaria and Alec Baldwin’s marriage of 12 years remains intact. Alec Baldwin will reportedly appear in Hollywood Heist and Kid Santa soon. Katherine LaNasa says being a Best in Drag show judge was ‘fun as hell’ During an interview with Variety on the Best in Drag pageant’s pink carpet, the Emmy-winning actress shared her thoughts on judging the pageant. “Best in Drag is just fun as hell, and it’s about accepting everybody where they are, celebrating people as they are,” LaNasa shared. “I hope that this event teaches people that drag queens don’t kill, and there’s nothing to be afraid of here.” LaNasa and her husband, Grant Show, joined a star-studded panel of judges. The panel included Cheri Oteri, Judy Greer, Dan Bucatinsky, Kathy Kinney, Camryn Manheim, and Variety’s Marc Malkin. Best in Drag celebrated 30 years of supporting and raising money for APLA Health’s Alliance for Housing and Healing. Photo Credit: @TaylorSwift / YouTube It seems like The Summer I Turned Pretty fever has gotten to Taylor Swift. The romantic drama series, adored worldwide for its emotional storytelling and love triangle, has captivated not only fans but also celebrities—including the global pop icon herself. Recently, Swift was asked to pick a side between Team Conrad and Team Jeremiah, sparking excitement among fans of the hit series. Taylor Swift discloses if she is on Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah on The Summer I Turned Pretty During her October 7 appearance on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, Taylor Swift gracefully avoided taking sides in the heated The Summer I Turned Pretty debate. When asked whether she supports Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah, the singer humorously responded that she’s “Team Summer I Turned Pretty.” Swift, however, beautifully backed her unexpected neutral stance. The singer explained how the show has utilised her music in the most thoughtful ways to highlight the significant moments in Belly’s life. Swift said, “I’m just, I’m here for whatever is next. I support your choices, girl.” Showing her emotional attachment to the female lead, the singer expressed that she feels her music comes from Belly’s mind. Swift added that she will forever be Team Belly no matter who she ends up with. Following Swift’s heartfelt comments, series creator Jenny Han reposted her clip on Instagram Stories. During her appearance on Jenna Bush Hager’s podcast, Open Book, Han highlighted the importance of Swift’s songs in the series, especially “The Way I Loved You”. Han had written a handwritten note to Swift explaining that it would mean the world to her to be using her songs for the series. She believed it would be the greatest gift to her and the fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty. “She really — I felt like she is someone who bets on women. And I felt like she bet on me”, the author added. Be it “Lover,” “Cruel Summer to this Love,” or “Cardigan,” Swift’s songs have beautifully elevated the emotional scenes of The Summer I Turned Pretty. The feature of “Dress” and “Out of the Woods” (Swift’s Version) in the series finale further cemented the connection of her music with Belly.
